# Upload a Mac Photos.app 5 library to Immich

This exported my Photos 5 album from an oldish macbook 
to [Immich](https://immich.app/). It worked for me, may be useful
as a starting point for others.

This will preserve album names, and create tags for keywords.
Manual image rotation is not yet handled.

Photos uses a sqlite database, which makes it relatively legible to
investigate. There is an existing Python library 
[osxphotos](https://github.com/RhetTbull/osxphotos) which is well maintained
and would handle other program versions - I only looked for it after
this had already been written.
